SQR 1: "Understanding Composing"

Summary:

Anne is writing teacher she was given an assignment to tape her thoughts while composing aloud on a topic in a course of research and basic writing. While hearing her composing she notices certain basic patterns not only did she but so did others. Sandra Perl the assistant professor than recognizes that it appears to be recursiveness yet the parts that recur to change from writer to writer and depends on what the topic is. Some elements are having to go back every few phrases, sentence, paragraph or have to read the topic over and over while thinking of key terms. Another element is felt sense it is what you feel or have experienced it is also known as your inner voice. Retrospective Structuring is a feature of the composing process it can be known when something is not what was intended to be said or not getting the point across. We discover something new in our writing so we write something new out of it. Another feature of the composing process is projective structuring when writing what they think others want them to write rather than writing what they want to write. Everyone thinks different so the writing is different.

Question:

The author describes recursiveness as “a forward-moving action that exists by virtue of a backward-moving action". To what do writers move back? What is being repeated?

Response:

The writer may move back to revise their writing and to organize their thoughts. The process of going back and rereading what is already written down keeps being repeated till the end of your writing.
