When giving feedback on a peers’ paper there are many things that need to be included. There are teaching techniques that help improve one’s feedback. A useful technique is called PQP form. The PQP technique requires group members (usually two to five per group) take a turn reading their drafts aloud as the other students follow along with copies. PQPs stand for Praise Question Polish. When you praise you tell the writer why you like it, why it is good, and what should stay. T question the writer is to ask what you as a reader didn’t understand. Finally to polish is simply giving feedback that should be useful in the writing. There are three types of commenting. Vague are comments that are full of generalities, providing little or no specific direction for revision or for transfer through praise. General, but Useful are comments that are still too general but provide some direction for revision. And finally Specific, comments that provide the writers specific direction for revision. When giving a writer feedback, always try to give the most useful and specific feedback so that the writer can revise the article and improve their writing composition for future writing purposes.
Why is it important to get feedback from your fellow peers’?
It is very important for your peers’ to give feedback on any material that you have written. There are many reasons for feedback; I will list just a few in the following passage. When a writer receives feedback, the writer can recognizes any errors that have come arise without the writer’s knowledge. After correcting the errors the write will be more alert on future writings. In addition, the feedback can open the door for a discussion. As you may only see one side of the story, your peers’ might have an opposite reaction to the article. This reaction to the article will allow for conflict and resolution. The writer will also learn other important view that might have been overseen, allowing the writer to either agree or disagree. Having a different perspective of the article allows the writer to grow and view others interest which may not have been considered in the past. Allowing for peers’ giving their input will give you as writer new ideas that will enhance your writing techniques. One key importance is that the writer picks up and uses any useful feedback from there peers’ giving the writer more knowledge of their writing habits. Another aspect of feedback is that it allows a more experienced writer to identify grammatical errors. The truth is that your peers’ will be completely honest with your writing. It is always good to have a trusted peer that you can rely on for help. As a writer and friend you have the option to use the feedback or not. A good example of a more experienced writer would be your instructor. The instructor will clearly point out your grammar errors, giving the writer an opportunity to correct and learn how to become a better writer. As you can gather now there are a lot of advantigives in giving and receiving feedback from your peers’.
