Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers
Citation: Author(s): Nancy Sommers “Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers”. College Composition and Communication, Vol. 31, No. 4 (Dec., 1980), pp.378-388
Summary: This article show me that experience make the master. In this article we can see that a good writer should have experience and good knowledge, and show us too the differences between a student writer and an adult writer. The adult can write more things because he has more knowledge and also has more experience to make the essay easier to understand and more interesting, in the other hand the student has less experience and has more mistakes than the adult writer. They have different ways of revising essays because the adult writer with his experience can help more the writer with a bunch of details and can change the entire point of the essay with some simple words. On the other side the student make just simple fixtures to the essays, most of the time they just make grammatical fixtures or just rewrite something with different words, the student just find simple mistakes. In conclusion I think a adult writer revise is more valuable that a student writer one because an adult writer can help you more because of his experience and knowledge, and a experience writer can teach you to be an experience writer in a near future.
Question: What are the revision strategies of experienced writers found in Sommer’s studies? What can you learn from those strategies?
Response: Experience writers review their essays as another’s, that way they will be able to critique their essays as other’s essays and would help them to get better by revising their own papers. With this strategy I learn that I can get better by myself by just rereading my own work and fixing it.
