Summary:

While Anne, a teacher of writing from New York, is having a hard a hard time beginning a case study on herself, she learns it becomes very difficult to do this. She starts to wonder on other things rather than just her topic, and while this happens she realizes she cannot just keep on writing without any distractions. One learns in this research that there are many steps into composing a writing of any sort. Many of us have never paid attention to ourselves as we write; nonetheless, all the steps are still a part of each writing and we practice them every time. The retrospective process is unique in professional writers as it is in unskilled writers as well. As for professional writers, they sometimes know of this process but call it their “inspiration.” Yet, unskilled writers sometimes do not realize that as they go back after every sentence or group of sentences just to regain the thoughts, is in fact a much formulated procedure. Projective structuring is another process involved in composing a writing. This process involves the rules applied to one’s self as they write something. This makes a writer’s works feels incomplete even when finished writing.

Question:

The author describes recursiveness as “a forward-moving action that exists by virtue of a backward-moving action”. To what do writers move back? What is being repeated? Name some recursive elements.

Response:

Writers go back to their writers all the time; as they write a sentence or group of sentences one usually rereads it again to regain their thoughts. If the writer seems to be going off topic they try to go back to that topic or that idea.
